Episode 33 - The Crossbow Incident

This episode of the animated Star Trek was not really as far into the run as it seems, since the "Reanimated" series was numbered to follow the original's 22 episodes, making this only the eleventh ep. of the new run. Where it deviated was in its depiction, not of Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the rest aboard Enterprise, but another Starfleet crew aboard a newer, Crossbow-class starship. Captain Piper and his crew encounter a civilization living inside a cold sun, who accidentally pull their ship inside using their equivalent of a transporter - the problem is that it only works to bring things inside, not to send them back out. Combining their intellects and technology, a way out is found, and then the Vug have to decide whether they will remain inside the only home their species has ever known, or try to explore the space outside of it. At the end of the episode, it's revealed that the entire adventure is a story that Dr. McCoy has been telling his granddaughter while on shore leave, before he has to return to duty aboard Enterprise.

He has been exploring Poser as a way to expand his ability to illustrate the new adventures, and I've been trying to figure out how to get a good 'cartoon-style' render, in this case, of my Crossbow-class starship model. Once I finally had something that's starting to get where I want to go with it, I thought I'd share it, on a suitably-cartoony background, and then go back to see if I can make it better .
